I've decided to make a
New Year's Birthday resolution this year. I am on the verge of turning 30 years old. I am also on the verge of turning 300 pounds. While I'm totally fine with the first event, the latter is not OK.
My goal is to lose 30 pounds by my 30th birthday. My birthday is in exactly 14 weeks (April 21st for the calendar-ly challenged). The means I need to lose just over 2 pounds per week to hit my goal. That is a very healthy weight loss plan, and hopefully very achievable for me.
I've been trying to lose weight for a while. I never seem to be motivated enough to stick with it, despite plenty of support (encouraging wife, 24 Hour Fitness membership from the in-laws, 3 50 minute trainer sessions from my parents this Christmas). Maybe I need accountability. I will be posting updates on my progress here, and likely weekly weigh in readings. Feel free to ask me how I'm doing. Knowing that people are out there following along might be the extra motivation I need to actually go to the gym often enough to make a difference.
As best as I can tell from my analog scale, my starting weight is 286 pounds.
30 for 30...it's not just for ESPN anymore.
EDIT: I bought a new scale that has a digital display and calculates body fat percentage.
Week 0 Weigh In: 288.2 pounds & 40.3% body fat
